In life we face many challenges, but some people have to face the hard and often distressful challenge of ill health. This was the
case with the young nephew of one of UIB's Aviation Brokers - Joe Barclay, who was
diagnosed with a rare heart complaint. Joe's nephew faced this challenge with
great fortitude and thanks to the superb efforts of both the Great Ormond Street and the John Radcliff
hospitals, this young lad now leads a fit and active life.
In an effort to say thank you for the hard work performed by the staff at these
two health trusts, Joe has decided to raise funds for both hospitals. So
never one to shy away from a challenge, Joe has chosen a really big (3,792
metre) one. He is going to climb the north face of La Tour Ronde in
the French Alps (see image to right). This mountain should test Joe to the
limit and it is with great pleasure that UIB are sponsoring
Joe in his efforts.
No doubt upon his return Joe will provide us with details of his
adventures in the French Alps and also be able to report on the generous amount
he has raised for these great hospitals.
If you would like to also sponsor Joe in his climb, please email him at
