 Celebrating 20 Years!
Believe it or not UIB is 20 years old this summer! Back in the heady days of 1987, following a management buy-out from Marsh and McLennan Inc, we opened the doors of our offices in Ibex house here in London, and the atmosphere was electric, full of enthusiasm. It was an exciting time and we all knew that great things lay ahead.
Jad Kabban, our late lamented founder, said, “during my many years in insurance, I have seen how imagination, creativity and innovation are qualities that are just as indispensable to efficient and economic cover as experience, cool analysis and considered judgement. There is only one source for all the qualities, the human resource. I believe that we have assembled a unique team at UIB, a team of experienced professionals who are ready to accept the challenge that changing market conditions represent.” These wise words are as true now as they were then and even though our staff numbers have risen dramatically in the intervening years, we still retain this sentiment in our working practices today.
UIB has grown from strength to strength and as a testament to Jad’s philosophy we are proud to have many of the founding members of UIB still working with us today. Although the senior management has also grown over the years the founding members of the Kabban family are still strongly represented.
David Trezies, our new Executive Group Chairman, said, "I have long been impressed by UIB's ability to provide tailored and imaginative solutions for their clients and was flattered to be asked to become Chairman of UIB. UIB's client focus, know-how and business base provides enormous potential for growth. UIB has a global presence in well over a hundred countries. Over the years, they have cultivated a highly skilled and committed team of professionals who have the distinct ability of building on the successful platform already created."
We would like to thank all our clients over the years for their trust and belief in UIB, especially in the early years, and our staff for their dedication and commitment. With our faith in UIB and in each other, we all look forward to continuing these strengths for the next 20 years – and beyond!
To celebrate our “birthday” we will be holding a Summer Party for our staff and their partners in London’s ornate Gibson Hall on Friday 22nd June 2007.
