The UK has always been synonymous with the rain. Collectively we are constantly talking about the weather we have in the UK, it is either too hot (Summer 2006) or too wet (Summer 2007) or in some cases too cold, however this July saw records tumble as we experienced the wettest July since records began.
Not only was it the wettest here but it also produced a record number of extreme weather and flood warnings.
It is far too early to really gauge the true costs of the major floods that have hit Britain this summer and what impact they will have on the balance sheets of the insurance/reinsurance companies, however in his recently released Treaty Reinsurance "Half Term" report, Robert Hayne - Managing Director of UIB Treaty, sets out his thoughts about the current state of the reinsurance market.
